Wellington Wins Shand Cup and Shand Salver

Wellington has won the Shand Salver for U19 Men, the 1st time in 5 years and also reclaimed the Shand Cup from Manawatu/Wangnui after this years hosts took the title from the capital team in New Plymouth last year.

A draw and two wins by the under 19 side was matched by the same results in the senior division, and was enough to see off Taranaki and Manawatu/Wanganui respectively.

In the 50th edition of the Shand Cup, presented by J.S and R.S. Shand in 1966  for competition bewtween Wellington and neighbours Manawatu/Wanganui, Taranaki and Hawkes Bay, Wellington added a 29th win to its tally.

The Salver presented in 1977 also by the Shand's was won this year for the 23rd time by Wellington.

The Sybil Green Salver, held by the Women's team from 2015, was won this year by Hawkes with 3 straight wins.
