PBGC Win 75th Duncan Cup

On a perfect autumn day at a superbly presented Waikanae GC course, the 75th contest for the iconic Arthur Duncan Cup, the prize for Men's Interclub supremacy in Wellington, was decided in a battle befitting this great trophy.

Perenial contenders, Petone club Shandon, faced off against Kapiti Coast rivals Paraparaumu Beach. As is often the case in these finals the morning foursomes can set the tone for the afternoon and the final outcome.

So was the case as a mid round lead to Shandon in 4 of the 5 foursomes marches, swung PBGC's way to finish as a 3.5 - 1.5 advantgae to the coasters.

In a typical afternoon of singles the 10 matches ebbed and flowed, never sitting much different from 4.5 to 5.5 points either way. The final tally ended at 5.5 - 4.5 to PBGC, the last couple of games conceeded as PBGC secured the 8 points needed for the title.

The win followed on from a victory in 2016 which had broken a winless run back to 1989 - celebrations well earned for the proud PBGC team and their large number of supporters.
