Julianne Alvarez takes lead at NZ U19's

Julianne Alvarez stormed into the lead today at Templeton Golf Club with a 3 under par 70 to take a 3 shot lead into tomorrows final round.

The blue skys and warmer conditions reflected in the scoring with Julianne notching up 5 birdies; the only hiccup being back to back bogeys on holes 10 & 11 which blemished an otherwise flawless display as she attempts to win the NZ U19 Womens title for the first time.

Gabrielle Palado slipped 4 places to =12th with a second round 80, 2 shots ahead of defending champion Te Rongopai Clay, whose +5 78 saw her rise 3 places to =15th.

Over at Harewood GC and the Mens division, Brayden Mazey slipped out of contention with a second round 80 to fall into a share of 18th place, 9 shots adrift of the leader, Aucklands Peter Lee.

The Mens field is trimmed from 159 entrants down to the top 72 plus ties for tomorrows final round. Other Wellington golfers to make the cut were Daniel Hillier, who shot a 78 to go with yesterdays 77 and a share of 29th place, and  Luke leesburg, whose second round 79 and 162 (+18) total saw him sneak inside the cut line right on the number.
