Cardplus Wellington beat North Harbour 3-2

After the disappointment of losing this morning, the girls rallied around this afternoon to beat North Harbour.

The team all had solid starts with all matches being either square or one or two up at the turn. Alanah Braybrook continued to build on her good start, winning 3/2. Lucy Davis was never more than two up over her opponent throughout the match and was one up playing the 18th. Knowing that her point could be crucial she made a gutsy par after hitting it into the left trees off the tee and holing a 20ft par putt to secure the point.

With two points secure, one more point was required for the win. Te Rongopai Clay was playing solid tee to green and putting well getting to 3 up at one stage over her opponent. Down the stretch Clay's opponent made three birdies to square the match and take it down to the 18th. Clay had a putt for birdie, while her opponent had a 2 ft par putt. Clay left her birdie putt short and her opponent missed the two foot putt to give Clay a 1up win and securing the team win for Cardplus Wellington. Was a good result for Clay who was 4 under the card today.

Julianne Alvarez had a tough match against North Harbours No 1 Kristen Farrell, unfortunately losing 2 down.

Cardplus Wellington need to win against Southland tomorrow to make the semi-finals with the other team to make the semi-finals being decided between North Harbour and BoP who face off tomorrow.
