I was first introduced to the great game nearly 40 years ago when Tom Caithness took a couple of new juniors and I for a round at Shandon. Having only played at the old Hutt Park 15 hole course, Shandon and their greens were like Augusta to us. As part of Tom’s junior teams Shandon were lucky enough to win 3 Watt Cups, with the like of Matthew Lane in our team. I was hooked on the team aspect of what is essentially an individual sport. I am still as enamoured with this aspect today. Shandon has enjoyed many team victories in recent years, and along the way I have served on the Shandon Board, Junior Development Committee and various project teams. My experience in Sports Administration and Finance in Golf and other sports, and background in Sales, Marketing and Finance in large corporate and as a small business owner gives me a good background to help Wellington Golf move forward in the key areas of Junior Development, Representative success, Interclub programmes and Financial performance.
