Volunteer Coaching Opportunity

WGI/PGA NZ Practical Foundation Coach training sessions - registration

In partnership with PGA NZ and Sport Wellington, WGI is pleased to pilot a practical hands-on volunteer coach training session for all volunteer coaches involved in introductory programmes for new golfers - particularly juniors.  The programme content has been developed by PGA NZ to complement their online Foundation Coach training programme

The aim of the programme is to better support and equip volunteer coaches to provide quality learning experiences to those just starting out in golf. The programme also offers a professional development opportunity to local pro coaches who work with volunteer coaches or are interested in learning some new coach development skills. We hope that making a comprehensive volunteer coach training programme available to Clubs will not only improve Clubs' ability to attract and retain volunteers, but also help them to attract and retain more new golfers through fun, varied and quality coaching sessions.  We hope that this will in turn lead to more new golfers playing golf on a regular basis.

The following training sessions are available for you to attend:

  • Tues 14 Nov 2017 - 5.00-7.00pm at Masterton Golf Club (with Joel Macklin)
  • Tues 21 Nov 2017 6.00-8.00pm at Miramar Golf Club (with Chris Hutchison) - postponed due to illness - new date will be advised soon
  • Wed 29 Nov 2017 6.00-8.00pm at Judgeford Golf Club (with Dean Kingsbeer)

Further sessions will be added to this list as they are confirmed.

The sessions are available to anyone from any Golf Club, and there is no cost to attend - thanks to funding from Sport Wellington.

Please register here if you are interested in attending so we know how many people to expect.
