Team Wellington bring home the silverware from Hawkes Bay

Over the weekend (2-3 July), Wellington travelled to Napier Golf Course, for their first Representative match against Hawkes Bay Poverty Bay for a number of years.

The team were up at the crack of dawn on Saturday, piled into two mini-vans and raced (figuratively) off to the Hawkes Bay.  On the way the team stopped for a nutrious lunch (I hope), and then upon arriving at Napier Golf Course, got down to business.  After a team talk with Team Managers - Nigel & Sue - the team teed off in the reverse singles matches.

Day 1 saw both the mens and the womens teams take an early lead.  The women winning 4-2, and the men winning 5-3.

Day 2 the team teed off for the singles.  This time it was alot closer, with the women securing a draw 3-3, and the men pipping Hawkes Bay-Poverty Bay 4.5-3.5.

The end result was a fantastic win for both the women (7 - 5) and the men (9.5 - 6.5).

Our thanks to Allan and his Hawkes Bay-Poverty Bay team for helping re-instate the match, and to the Hawkes Bay-Poverty Bay players and managers for two enjoyable (& challenging) days.

And a special thanks to Team Wellington - Jonno, Daniel, Ben, Kerry, Brayden, Elton, Jack, Brady, Te Rongopai, Darae, Erika, Gabrielle, Kellie & Emma - for a job well done on the course, and Nigel & Sue - for a job well done off the course.

We look forward to stocking the trophy cabinet with more silverware over the coming months.
