Paraparaumu & Judgeford celebrate success at Junior Interclub finals

Congratulations to Paraparaumu & Judgeford who were declared Junior Interclub champions at the end of play on Sunday, 15th May 2016.

Paraparaumu made it a "three-peat" beating Shandon (5-1) to win the Watt Cup, and Judgeford triumped over the Paraparaumu Pennants team (5-1) to take home the Junior Pennants trophy.

While the scores may not reflect it, the games were very evenly matched and all players were focused on playing good golf.  It was a pleasure to see the quality of golf that we have in our Junior ranks, and all the players from all the divisions can be proud of their efforts throughout the season.

As noted at the prize-giving, today's junior players are Wellington's future Representative players, and judging by the golf on display yesterday - we have a very bright future.

WGI would like to thank Royal Wellington for hosting the finals.  The course posed a fair challenge to all the teams competing in the final - rewarding when on the fairways and tough when erring toward the hazards.

We would also like to thank all the Junior players for making the commitment to play in Junior Interclub, and to the parents and team managers who make it all possible.  Thank you also to all the Clubs who have willingly hosted Junior Interclub this session.

We look forward to the growth of Junior Interclub in the Wellington District and hope to have further advancements to encourage more Juniors to play in 2017.
