Freyberg Masters 2014 - Day 3

DAY 3
Round 5:
All of the team members were focused on a vital win against the Bay of Plenty team that was so far unbeaten in the tournament. There was an expectation that it would be close and could come down to a few key moments and so it proved. Darin Hiroki has become the rock of the team at number 5 and is in fine form. He was never headed in reeling off another strong performance winning 4&2. In the match at number 2 John Warrington made vital birdies in the late holes to grasp a 3&2 win in a high quality match. With the BOP team winning both matches between the number 3's and number 4's it came down to the team's number 1's. Malcolm Gullery turned around being 3 down after 4 holes to lead at the turn. The match seesawed with BOP leading 1 up after 16. Malcolm holed a clutch putt to draw level with a birdie at 17 however Disappointingly for Wellington, Blair Murdoch, the BOP number one, holed a 15 foot birdie putt on the last to consign Wellington to another 3-2 loss.
