Day One Abandoned at New Zealand Stroke Play

Play for day one of the New Zealand Stroke Play Championship has officially been abandoned after extreme rain caused flooding throughout the Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club.

This weather was expected on the Kapiti Coast, but certainly not to this extent as the championship has now been reduced to 54-holes.

Earlier this morning it was made clear only one half of the field would be able to get on course, so the afternoon side of the draw was told that they would not be required today. The rest waited patiently in the clubhouse before a course overview by tournament officials made things clear that day one was done.

With this, we will return to the original Friday draw which was made prior to the championship as we endeavour to give our biggest stroke play event the best chance of finding a deserving winner.
