Conditions of Competition

Eligibility

Players meeting the Senior and Intermediate Divisions Handicap Index ranges of Up to 7.0 for Seniors and between 7.1 to 13.5 for Intermediates. Players must comply with the Entry requirements as listed in clause 5. ENTRIES

Format

The Masterton Golf Club will decide the size of the field.

The Tournament will be played over 54 holes of stroke play at the Masterton Golf Club. Gross and Nett prizes will be presented for Senior Intermediate and Women’s divisions.

Rounds 1 & 2   Saturday 8 April. Tee off 7.00am

Round 3            Sunday 9 April (These rounds will be seeded on Round 1 & 2 aggregate results.) Tee off 9.00am

In the event of a tie, those players tied shall play off in a sudden death format on such holes as Tournament Control selects. This shall continue until a winner is determined. If for any reason this is not possible joint winners will be declared.

If inclement weather or for any other reason the event is disrupted Tournament Control may alter the format and the number of rounds played.

Tournament Control

The Tournament Control’s decision on matters affecting the Tournament shall be final.

Any dispute or protest must be lodged in writing and submitted to Tournament Control with fifteen (15) minutes of the conclusion of the round’s play.

The Masterton Golf Club and Tournament Control reserves the right to refuse any entry without being required to give a reason for doing so.

General Rules of Play

1.1.  The Rules of Play shall be the Rules of Golf as approved by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club, together with Local Rules as drawn up by the Masterton Golf Club.

1.2.  Starting Times. Rule 6-3a provides; “The player must start at the time established by Tournament Control”. The penalty for a breach of Rule 6-3a is disqualification. However it is a condition of the Tournament that, “If the player arrives at his starting point, ready to play, within five minutes of his starting time, the penalty for failure to start on time is two strokes in stroke play and loss of the first hole in match play rounds. Penalty for lateness beyond five minutes is disqualification.”

  1. a.  Publishing of Draws. The draw will be published on the Masterton Golf Club Website on Thursday 6 April and the 2nd day’s play will be published as soon as possible after the 1st day’s play.
  2. b.  Pace of Play Guidelines. Competitors shall abide by the Slow Play Rule 6/7 of the Wellington Golf Association.

Entries

5.1. Eligible players are male and female amateur golfers holding a current New Zealand Golf Handicap Index, or overseas equivalent, and meeting any handicap requirements as indicated in clause 1. Eligibility.

5.2. Entries shall only be made on the official entry form issued by the Masterton Golf Club. Entries will not be accepted by phone.

5.3. The entry fee is $70.00.

5.4. Entries must reach the office of the Masterton Golf Club, PO Box 249, Masterton, accompanied by the entry fee, no later than the date stipulated on the cover page of the entry form.

5.5. Tournament Control at their discretion may accept late entries.

Registration

All competitors must register at the Masterton Golf Club before commencement of play.
